Last few days, I wrote on how to create your first blog
in blogger. After you have successfully created a blogger blog, the next thing
you would want to do is change your blogger blog subdomain to custom domain.
Firstly, let’s start
from here:
What is a custom
domain?
According to the most popular search engine, Google, a
custom domain also known as vanity url is a way to create a branded links to
spectate resources including custom links, forms, landing pages, call outs, and
files, using a domain name owned by your organization.
For example, you create your blog with blogger.com, you
will get a free subdomain (i.e. www.yoursite.blogspot.com) which you can then
change to a custom domain (www.yoursite.com).
Before you can be able to change your subdomain to custom
domain, the first thing you need to do is to register a domain and how do you
register a domain? That is basically what I am going to teach you in this post.
How to register your first custom domain, it could be .com, net, .info, or .org.
How to Get Started
There are different domain registrar you can use to
register your custom domain, but as for me, I love Godaddy. So, in this post,
we will be using Godaddy.com to register our first domain.
==> Visit www.godaddy.com
==> The page loads up, you will see a long search bar
==> Enter a domain name
that you would like to register
==> The domain option loads up, immediately you see the
custom domain you like, click on Select and
Continue to Cart
==> Another page loads up, at the top of the site, click on Check Out Now
==> Review your Order and Click on Proceed
==> You will be asked whether you are a New Customer or Returning
Customer
==> Click on Continue to
create a New Account
==> Fill up all the necessary information on the page,
including your payment information and click on Continue
==> Your other will be placed and you have successfully
registered your first custom domain!
In my next post, I will show you how to point your
registered domain to your blogger blog, that is change your blogspot.com to
.com using your registered custom domain.
Thank you.
Hope it helps.
